An eviction notice comes with a deadline, and most of the people who get one never talk to a lawyer before it passes.

California draws a hard line between two kinds of help. Filling in the forms you ask for is clerical work, and Recourse does that. Looking at your facts and saying which defenses fit is the practice of law, and no self-serve tool is allowed to do it.

Access is the second kind. It is a nonprofit desk that works under a California supervising attorney. The desk reviews your situation, names the defenses that may apply, and prepares your Answer in time to file it. A lawyer stands behind every answer.

It is not open. The desk is built, and the attorney is not yet seated. Counsel review is under way, and until it finishes, everything Access shows runs on made-up facts and is marked as a demonstration.
