Hold Still
An artwork for your phone, with two sides. On one, sentences about being human burn on screen, and the sound stays in tune only while you hold the phone steady. On the other, a machine gives its own account of itself, typed and erased. Best on a phone with the sound on.
What you receive
- The code
- One page and one script. No accounts, no backend, nothing collected, one font loaded from outside
- The text
- Seventeen lines, eight human and nine machine, and the right to change them
- The sound
- The spatial score as code: the held track, the set-down track and the machine track
- The card
- The sharing image and the script that draws it from the piece's own renderer
- Not included
- The address, which is a room in joshwolf.net. The piece runs at any domain
Condition
Public and working on the day it was listed. The phone is the full piece; the desktop gets a reduced one. No documentation beyond the wall label on the piece itself. The lines were drafted with a language model under the maker's direction, and a buyer would own the human share. Condition 74 of 100.
